DIVIDI FOUNDATION is pleased to host Mastering Infrared Imaging: Developing an Informed Eye on 11–12 November 2026 in The Hague.
This specialized workshop is designed for art historians, art researchers, and conservators seeking a deeper understanding of Infrared Reflectography (IRR) and its role in art analysis and conservation. Through a blend of theoretical instruction, expert talks, and practical hands-on experience, participants will explore how IRR uncovers hidden details within paintings, providing critical insights into their creation, changes over time, and conservation needs.
The workshop brings together René Gerritsen, a specialist in art and research photography; Petria Noble, former Head of Paintings Conservation at the Rijksmuseum; and Gwendolyn Boeve-Jones and Mariana Escamilla-Martínez of Redivivus, alongside OPUS Instruments, specialists in infrared reflectography equipment.
The programme will cover the technical principles behind IRR, how to operate the equipment effectively, and the interpretation of results. Speakers will guide participants through its applications in the analysis of paintings, from uncovering underdrawings to identifying later alterations and previous restoration work.
Through lectures and practical work, participants will gain experience in capturing and analyzing infrared images, understand the possibilities and limitations of the technique, and learn how to apply the findings to their art historical research or conservation practices.
The workshop will take place at the EKARD Collection in Wassenaar and the Redivivus studio in The Hague. We are happy to supply information about transportation, accommodation, or support during your visit.
